This reading wasn't even close to what I expected it to be. However, it had an extremely powerful aftertaste. John Cage sat down for four minutes and thirty three seconds in almost complete silence. However, there were sections to this silence but not too long into the first section. Other noises were then a bit more noticeable and more prominent. Cage's point behind this phenomenon is kind of up to every individual to interpret for themselves. At least for him, everything is music. Even silence. This deep thought and demonstration actually influenced some genres in a way defending the fact that instruments and voices aren't the only thing that can make music. Everything can make music! For me, I completely agree with this whole reading and what John Cage did. What I liked about this the most was the fact that a concert all designed specifically to enhance the acoustics of sounds and music was completely silent. Even with a bunch of people present, this silence and deep listening was almost collaborative in a way!
