Okay, so, this was an awesome short read that really gave me some perspective on the actual value of digitally created art. First off, the fact that some large sculpture of a very cheap and common balloon creation sold for 58 MILLION dollars is just astonishing. That price evens seems too high for a piece made by Picasso in my opinion. That is ridiculous because Jeff Koons literally just copied something else and made it huge and solid. However, I guess it is one of a kind now so maybe that's why but still, I don't really get it. Second, to add some contradiction, Michael Green bashed Koons in a way by attempting to sell a gif of Koons' Ballon Dog deflating to see if any form of digital art had any value. Of course in the beginning he no luck so he jacked the price up and low and behold, it still had no takers for 5,800 bucks this time around. Although it hasn't sold yet to this day, this is awesome for many reasons. One being that it was completely against Koons and kind of a way of making fun of him. Two being that in 2014, selling digital art for these prices was just not a thing! With the NFT craze happening in our world currently, this was so cool to discover from this reading and Green was in a way pioneering the potential high value of digital art. Lastly, I wanted to point out that a quick yet very impactful reading like this is perfect for where we are in this class right now. I honestly wish there were more sooner!
